This series of work was taken over several years, and documents a friend's gender transition from female to male.

When Fiveash began photographing Peter in 1998, he'd changed his name, started binding his chest, taking testosterone, and living as a man.

Observing Peter's metamorphosis over the next few months and years was extraordinary and exciting - witnessing a shy, awkward woman transform into a self-empowered, confident, and happy man.
